Byblos Old Souk

In the South-East corner of the historic city of Byblos and close by the entry gate of the archaeological vicinity, is an old market place (souk in Arabic). The Old Souk of Byblos was constructed amid the Ottoman regime and it portrays their economic spirit.

Initially, it constituted of a considerable amount of khans (Inns), retail businesses and horse stables. The Souk is open to Visitors, tourists and inhabitants of the area to freely roam, learn about the history, and shop for souvenirs, antique old-aged, local crafts and other various merchandise.

Currently located In the Old Souk as well are a number of clubs and open air bars that serve food & beverages, play mind-blowing music and provide a worldwide attraction nightlife ambience. This Mediterranean city is invariably overflowing with activity and the market place is almost at no time vacant of people.

Make sure to enjoy your stroll through the market place that dates back to the middle ages and don’t forget to notice the beautiful and sophisticated architecture.
