To start the day's adventure, we meet with our guide in downtown Kobeyat before embarking on the trek towards Erouba, nicknamed the Roof of Akkar.
Our first stop on the trail is Nabi Khaled, a stunning site named after the revered holy man buried there. His tomb is sheltered by a grand cedar tree and the two largest oak trees in Lebanon.
The route then leads us through a magnificent natural amphitheater, sculpted from rock over millions of years.
As we ascend towards Erouba's peak, towering at 2240 meters, we are treated to a series of breathtaking panoramas that gradually unfold as our guide shares fascinating insights. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with an unparalleled view of the entire region, extending all the way to the sea.
After a well-deserved lunch break, the descent begins, allowing time to reflect on the mesmerizing journey.
