Batroun Roman Theater

The Roman Theater is located east of the mid—town in Marah el Sheikh. It is engraved in rock and its remnants constitute of only nine tiers. It is semicircular in shape and has the capacity to accommodate audience and spectators but with their backs facing east. The arena stretches under residential houses and extends to the west where there are bathrooms that are hidden and concealed underground. This spotlight theatre demonstrates the significant importance of finance and culture in Batroun during the Roman Era. It was during this time (31 BC – 250 AD) that the inhabitants were given the authoritative freedom to forge coin in its name.
