Khan el Franj also known as “Caravanserai of the French” was built by Prince Fakhreddine around the 17th Century to welcome and shelter merchants and goods from France in order to encourage trade with Europe. It is a common rectangular large patio with a fountain in the center enclosed by covered exhibition halls.
