MACAM is the first modern and contemporary art museum in Lebanon. It aims to revive the memory of art in Lebanon through documenting and preserving Lebanese art heritage. Originally a factory, it is situated on a hilltop in Alita in the district of Byblos, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, 37 km from Beirut.
The museum focuses on modern sculptures and installation art. Its permanent exhibition of a century of sculpture, “Panorama of Sculpture in Lebanon”, showcases 450 work by 85 artists. MACAM follows a rich program to promote art appreciation and creativity through yearly temporary exhibitions and competitions.
Guided visits and various workshops are organized for all age groups. MACAM is the venue that brings people and art together in a serene nature.
