In Jbeil (Byblos), the ancient medieval part of the city in the northeast is surrounded by a large stone wall, which extends for 270 meters in the east-west direction and 200 meters in the north-south direction. The Crusaders built this wall at the beginning of the 12th century, reinforcing it with several towers.
