Kfarhim Grotto

Kfarhim Grotto was discovered on March 30, 1974. It was a significant event for tourism and for geologists as well: this grotto's development spans over 4 million years.

In Kfarhim (El-Chouf), young men used to gather in boulevards, squares, and various other places to practice their hobby of playing soccer. However, something unexpected happened on March 30, 1974. While passing the ball among themselves, the ball unexpectedly veered off its path and disappeared into a crevice between the stones. The amateur players entered the crevice and, using candles and flashlights, discovered a stunning grotto of natural beauty and serenity. This discovery was made with great curiosity and reverence.

The Kfarhim Grotto boasts multiple layers of covering, natural scenes, waterfalls, stalactites, and stalagmites, all of which have been sculpted and formed with exquisite beauty. This cave system contains several chambers of varying shapes, angles, and volumes, each with its unique features and water flowing throughout the area. The grotto lies 18 to 20 meters underground and maintains a neutral temperature year-round, regardless of the season.

Located 30 km from Beirut, Kfarhim Grotto is open year-round and offers visitors a unique experience. The grotto features several spacious rooms of varying heights, with candles hanging from the ceilings that create a magnificent view of sparkling crystals and gemstones. Although it may resemble other caves, Kfarhim Grotto is distinguished by its distinctiveness and independence, displaying unparalleled natural beauty. The numerous rooms within the grotto tell a story of its history, like an exquisite painting offering a feast for the eyes. Additionally, visitors can explore the grotto's exhibits showcasing the region's history and craftsmanship.
