The Mab'aj cave was discovered in 1938 and is situated in the middle of the Jbeil region, southwest of Annaya, near the Saint Theresa of Tourzaya monastery, which is home to a group of monks.
Speleologists have explored the inner depths of this cave for nearly 1,000 yards and have reported the presence of water basins and stretches of water that can only be navigated by kayak. Geologists estimate that the age of the rocks within the cave is over 190 million years old. The total length of the cave system is approximately 45,000 meters, yet only the first 250 yards are accessible to tourists for visitation.
