In Marjeyoun, in the city of Nabatieh, lies the Wadi al Hujair Natural Reserve which was sanctioned and initiated in 2010. It covers the entire area between the Litani River in the village of Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr (Nabatieh) and the town of Aytaroun in the locality of Bint Jbeil. This Natural reserve is coated with Valonia oak forests and wells. It was an allocated military territory and up until a few years back, deemed off-limits to civilians and others.

Mosques, residences, farms, and park restaurants are distributed around the area of the reserve and a designated team is in charge of maintenance, cleanliness, and caring for the reserve. Moreover, a law has been passed which forbids deforestation, logging, and tree trimming. Furthermore, this regulation restricts damaging acts like lighting fires, hunting, camping and other actions that may harm nature.
