The Al-Qartâwiyah Madrassa, built during the Mamluk Era in the beginning of the 13th century AD, is a theological school and one of Tripoli's most decorated buildings, spanning approximately 420m2. It is the only building in the area that features a prayer hall covered with an oval dome. The design is impressive in size, featuring a marbled Qiblah wall, a large fountain built of white marble, and a marble floor with various geometric patterns and colors.
