El-Hanabelah Mosque
The Al Hanbali Mosque, which was originally built in the 12th century CE, underwent restoration during the Mamluk era in 1283, under the rule of Al-Mansour Qala'un. The north side of the mosque has a plaque indicating the restoration date. The mosque is dedicated to the followers of the Al Hanbali doctrine, which was prevalent in Damascus and Baalbek during that time. Its most notable feature is the hexagonal minaret located in the western corner. The interior of the mosque used to house a center for Quranic studies and a Zawiya, which is a space reserved for Sufis.
