Madrassa al Tuwashiyah was constructed in the Mamluk historical period during the 14th Century AD. It was originally a school with a surface area of approximately 150m2. Built from sandstone in ornamental white and black patterns, it is one of the latest Mamluke buildings and one of the few to preserve its authentic, smooth, white, interior surface. The entrance is high and rises above the remaining façade with a trimmed half-dome consisting of diffused zigzag patters and contorted thin columns at the corners.
