Monastery of Saint John El-Chaqf
Romano-byzantine site originally. The first church was Byzantine (5-6th century) bazilica (we have the lateral elevation walls and the apsids, and foundations of the  pillars dividing the naves). The remains of the byzantine church was reused in the crusader period (12-13th centuries). They added new structures (three arches on each sides to support a new pointed barrel vault. During the same period a lateral chapel and a vaulted room and a parallel great vaulted hall were built in addition with a porch including a kitchen. The monastery suffered several earthquakes.
