The Butterfly Trail from Saydoun to Qattine

The journey begins at the Saydet Al Najat Church which features colorful stained glass windows. Walk ca. 1 km along an asphalt road passing through the village of Rimat.

Head back up to the dirt track and walk left eastbound, then continue north east and take a right on an asphalt road. Then walk south along a gravel road, pass a chicken farm and rabbit breed to reach a concrete road, then go left to reach the village of Hidab. Take a break under the shade of an old oak tree to take in the breathtaking views all the way to the port town of Tyre. Walk through the village and look out for the rooftops covered with pines laid out for drying. Head down to the river of Snaya, past enormous walnut trees, onto a gravel road. Continue northeast through trees to reach a stone irrigation pool , head down to the river and cross over to a challenging steep trail through olive groves to reach a dirt track. Take a right up the hill to reach an asphalt road. Take a left turn and continue walking to reach the village of Saydoun to view tobacco plantations and observe local drying techniques.
