The Zawiya Mosque and tomb of "Sheikh Abdallah Al-Youmînî” were constructed during the reign of Al-Amjad, the grandnephew of Saladin and chief commander of Baalbeck from 1182 to 1230. Built using the stones and rocks taken from the nearby temple of Mercury, the mosque’s remnants and ruins can be found atop Sheikh Abdallah Hill to this day.
